This week sees the last round of fixtures in the Champions League group phase and it will be a tense affair for a number of teams, not least Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United, who are at risk of dropping down into the Europa League and the dreaded Thursday/Sunday schedule associated with European football’s second tier competition.

Tuesday 8th December 2015
- Galatasaray v Astana (11/10 with Coral) – Astana are the first side from Kazakhstan to make it to the group stages of the Champions League and it has been a big learning curve for them. Both teams scored in their last game and indeed when they played Gala earlier in the group and we can’t see a clean sheet in this one.
- Wolfsburg v Manchester United (5/6 with BetVictor) – Wolfsburg haven’t performed as well domestically as they did last season but they are top of the group in Europe and we think they’ll get a goal in front of their own fans on Tuesday. That said, we can’t see them keeping a clean sheet against a United side who might, for once, try and score a goal.
- Sevilla v Juventus (5/6 with BetVictor) – Sevilla are a great side at home and although they are struggling in Europe, both Real Madrid and Barcelona have left the Ramon Sanchez Piszjuan empty handed this season. Juventus are unlikely to keep a clean sheet but given the form the Old Lady are in, they have the potential to cause any team problems.
- Paris Saint Germain v Shakhtar Donetsk (5/6 with BetVictor) – Shakhtar have endured a disappointing campaign by their standards, not helped by the fact that they have had to play their home games hundreds of miles away from their home due to safety concerns. PSG will surely find a way past a leaky Shakhtar back four, but don’t be surprised if the Ukrainians spring a surprise, with plenty of good attackers in amongst their ranks.
Wednesday 9th December 2015
- Gent v Zenit St. Petersburg (17/20 with Ladbrokes) – Gent have seen both teams score in all but one of their group stage matches so far and they have given themselves a real chance of making the knockout stages. Zenit have been flying in Europe with maximum points, but don’t be surprised if the Belgians win this one with goals apiece very likely.
- Olympiakos v Arsenal (8/13 with Sky Bet) – After an awful start, Arsenal have given themselves a good chance of reaching the knockout stages, although they have conceded 11 goals so far. They need to score so will likely come out with goals at the forefront of their mind, but this may leave gaps the Greek side can exploit.
- Bayer Leverkusen v Barcelona (1/2 with Ladbrokes) – Roger Schmidt’s Leverkusen side are a great outfit to watch and lots of their games are high scoring affairs. This one could go along similar lines, with the Germans’ attacking style of play likely to play right into Barca’s hands.
