The League Cup is often treated with disdain by many of the big sides and that often allows some of the smaller clubs to have a chance of making it to the latter stages of the tournament.
This week, Middlesbrough, Sheffield Wednesday and recently relegated Hull City all have the opportunity to pit their wits against top flight opposition and all three matches are in our seven BTTS tips for this week.
Tuesday 27th October 2015
- Hull City v Leicester City (7/10 with Betfair) – In Jamie Vardy, Leicester City have a striker who is bang in form and his goals are one of the reasons why Leicester have been doing so well this season. The Foxes have scored in every one of their matches so far this term, yet they have also conceded in them all as well and Hull will be looking to take advantage of that.
- Everton v Norwich City (4/5 with Betfred) – Everton have seen both sides score in both of their League Cup games and we think that will happen again here with the Canaries in good nick going forwards. That said, they shipped six goals against Newcastle the other week, so Everton should be able to get on the scoresheet.
- Stoke City v Chelsea (3/4 with BetVictor) – Chelsea look to have got their act together but we still think that they’ll concede in this one with Stoke enjoying a good record against the top sides at the Britannia. Former Blues attacker Mark Hughes has his side playing some good stuff at the minute and we very much like the look of BTTS in this one.
- Sheffield Wednesday v Arsenal (10/11 with Betfred) – Arsenal will almost certainly rotate their squad with a big game against Bayern Munich coming up the week after and that should give Wednesday a chance in this one. However, we can’t see the South Yorkshire outfit keeping a clean sheet against Arsenal’s considerable attacking force.

- Liverpool v Bournemouth (4/5 with Betfred) – Bournemouth have been shipping plenty of goals this season and we fancy Jürgen Klopp’s side to get a few goals in this one. However, the Cherries have been scoring plenty themselves even though they have been losing and with Liverpool not the sharpest at the back they could find the back of the net again on Wednesday.
- Manchester City v Crystal Palace (19/20 with Coral) – Palace were beaten 1-0 by City when the two sides met earlier in the year and we think that both teams will score in this clash with City conceding in each of their last six matches.
- Manchester United v Middlesbrough (6/5 with Betfred) – United were famously knocked out of this competition by MK Dons last year and we think that they might struggle against lower league opposition once again this season. Boro were unlucky to miss out on promotion last year and Aitor Karanka’s side are a real attacking force when they get going.
