When the fixture lists are released at the start of the season, it is often the Boxing Day fixtures that are most keenly anticipated. Whilst not everyone will be able to get the home fixture they’re after, they’re more than likely to see a stocking-full of goals and our gift to you this Christmas is seven great BTTS tips.
Friday 26th December
- Chelsea v West Ham (evens with Betfred) – The Hammers are ‘breaking barriers’ according to Sam Allardyce as they spend Christmas in the top four. Games like Chelsea will determine whether they are able to stay and fight for those European positions and whilst West Ham fans won’t be expecting much, their team are more than capable of causing Chelsea problems.
- Burnley v Liverpool (4/5 with Ladbrokes) – The Clarets have only failed to score once in their last seven matches and are a tough nut to crack at home. However, with Raheem Sterling looking in particularly fine fettle up front, the Burnley back four won’t be in for an easy ride. Danny Ings will be a key player for Burnley and he has impressed in his first season of Premier League football.
- Brentford v Ipswich (8/11 with Bet365) – These two sides are both sat in the play-off places in the Championship and depending on other results, a win for either team could see them go top in what is a very tight league at the top of the table. Daryl Murphy has led the line well for the Tractor Boys so far this season and he will be looking to carry on his run of scoring whilst Brentford have looked to Andre Gray to hit the back of the net for them and the former Luton man has ten goals to his name.
- Leicester City v Tottenham Hotspur (8/11 with Betfred) – Leicester have been struggling for form of late and they find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table. However, Spurs have conceded in twelve of their last fourteen Premier League matches and although the Foxes haven’t been hitting the net with the regularity they would like the likes of Leandro Ulloa can cause teams problems.
- Manchester United v Newcastle United (8/11 with Betfred) – Louis van Gaal’s side look defensively light and they conceded last week against a goal shy Aston Villa. Newcastle have Ayoze Perez up front whose pace and movement causes teams a number of problems whilst they have super sub Papiss Cisse on the bench. United for their part have a rejuvenated Radamel Falcao up front and will be confident of scoring in a fixture which regularly produces goals.
- Swansea City v Aston Villa (evens with BetVictor) – Garry Monk’s Swansea have been quietly going about their business so far in the league and they are currently sat in eighth place having beaten Hull City 1-0 last weekend. Aston Villa had struggled to score since the beginning of the season, but the return of Christian Benteke to goalscoring form means that they will be dangerous for any opponent.
- Leeds United v Wigan Athletic (13/15 with 888sport) – With a forward line who are in reasonable goalscoring form backed up by on loan Brazilian Adryan, Leeds will be confident of hitting the back of the net once again in front of their own fans. However, the Whites are very fragile at the back and Wigan will travel to Elland Road knowing that they are more than capable of getting something from the match.
