Christmas time is a time for mistletoe and wine apparently. However, we think that the best thing is the football, with matches on virtually every day during the Christmas period.
So, with a Christmas feast of football on the horizon, we thought we would give you a little gift in the form of seven BTTS tips. With defenders’ minds still on the EastEnders Christmas special, there could be plenty of goals.
Tuesday 26th December 2017
- Bournemouth v West Ham (10/11 with Betfred) – Bournemouth and West Ham are traditionally involved in high scoring matches and we can see both sides hitting the back of the net in this one. Since the start of last season, only five of West Ham’s last 16 trips to bottom half teams have featured a clean sheet.
- Huddersfield Town v Stoke City (evens with Betfred) – Stoke City have seen around two-thirds of their Premier League matches this season end without a clean sheet. They travel to West Yorkshire on Boxing Day and it should be an entertaining match. Goals look likely in this clash at the John Smiths Stadium.
- Watford v Leicester City (4/6 with Betfair) – After a ropey start to the campaign, which saw Craig Shakespeare given his marching orders, Leicester have seen an upturn in their form. Watford meanwhile have been on a little bit of a slump. However, despite the differences in form, we think that there will be plenty of goals.
- Hull City v Derby County (4/6 with Betfair) – Only around one quarter of Hull’s second tier matches this season have seen a side keep a clean sheet and we think that this match with Derby will see both keepers busy. Hull are a decent outfit at home, but the Rams have been quietly impressive under Gary Rowett.
- Tottenham v Southampton (21/20 with Betfair) – In recent times, Tottenham’s success has been built on a solid defence, but they have been conceding a few more goals lately. They should still be able to hit the back of the net against an out of sorts Southampton, but we wouldn’t rule out the Saints bagging themselves.
- Liverpool v Swansea City (15/13 with Ladbrokes) – Rightly or wrongly Swansea are under new management and the new man faces a tough task when his side travel to Anfield. They will surely concede against the Reds and the ‘Fab four’ given how impressive Jürgen Klopp’s side have been in recent time. That said, the Swans may well experience the ‘honeymoon’ effect and Liverpool have often slipped up against the weaker sides.

- Crystal Palace v Arsenal (8/11 with Betfair) – Roy Hodgson has made a great start to life as Crystal Palace manager and we are backing the Eagles to cause Arsenal some problems. The Gunners struggle a bit on the road and whilst we think they should score, Palace seem to have found their goalscoring mojo once again.
