This time of year may well be about giving presents to loved ones and welcoming in the New Year amongst friends, but it is also, undoubtedly, about football.
The games come thick and fast over the festive period and thanks to Sky Sports’ meddling in the fixture list, there is football on TV every day during the run-up to the New Year. We have a little belated Christmas gift for you as well in the form of seven BTTS tips from across the country which will hopefully give you a little financial boost ahead of 2018.
Saturday 30th December 2017
- Celtic v Rangers (19/20 with Bet365) – There are always fireworks aplenty at this time of year and there will certainly be some excitement when Rangers travel across Glasgow to face old rivals Celtic. The visiting side have seen over two-thirds of their Premiership matches finish without a clean sheet and we like the look of both teams to score here.
- Bournemouth v Everton (19/20 with Betfair) – Bournemouth drew their last match 3-3 and it could be a decent match when they entertain Everton on the south coast this weekend. The Toffees drew 0-0 last time out but should have a bit more firepower with the return of Wayne Rooney to the side.
- Liverpool v Leicester City (3/4 with Betfair) – With one of the best home defensive records in the league, it may seem odd that we are backing Liverpool to concede but this game could be very exciting indeed. Leicester City have bags of pace and will look to stretch the Reds. It could certainly be a busy one for both goalkeepers.
- QPR v Cardiff City (5/6 with Coral) – QPR have seen less than a third of their Championship matches finish with a clean sheet for either keeper and we fancy BTTS at Loftus Road this weekend. Cardiff are flying at the minute, but the Bluebirds may well get their wings clipped in west London.
- Hull City v Fulham (8/13 with Betfair) – Our other Championship selection is Fulham’s trip to the KCOM Stadium. These two sides have the highest BTTS percentages in the division. It is often said that the stats don’t lie, and we are certainly going with the numbers in this one.
- Manchester United v Southampton (21/20 with Coral) – Jose Mourinho often builds his side on a bedrock of defensive solidity yet his Manchester United side have been conceding quite a few goals of late. They have been shaky in matches with West Bromwich Albion and Burnley. Southampton don’t tend to score many, but they could spring a surprise in the Red Devils’ back yard.

- West Bromwich Albion v Arsenal (4/5 with Betfair) – West Bromwich Albion are a side who traditionally struggle for goals, but we fancy them to cause Arsenal plenty of problems. The Gunners often struggle in matches like this and having drawn 3-3 with Liverpool recently, we like the look of goals in this one. Will Arsenal’s away day blues continue?
