The Premier League is back after a break for international football that centred on the qualifying games for Euro 2016. England might have got two wins but they were far from convincing and, like many football and betting fans, we are thankful for the return to domestic action, not least because there are far more interesting games to choose from and on which to bet.
We’re focussing on the Premier League with a few extras thrown in for good measure – we don’t care who is playing to be honest; as long as both teams score, that will do nicely for us!

Saturday 18th October 2014
- Man City v Spurs (4/5 with BetVictor) – City are yet to keep a clean sheet at home in the Premier League and under Manuel Pellegrini their attacking play always leaves them open. Spurs have real pace on the counter and this could be an open game, with BTTS great value at 4/5.
- Arsenal v Hull (19/20 with Coral) – Odds of almost evens look huge given Arsenal’s ongoing frailty at the back and the fact that Hull look surprisingly potent going forward this season, with Nikica Jelavic in good form and that the Tigers have scored in all seven of their league matches thus far.
- Cardiff City v Nottingham Forest (10/11 with Sky Bet) – Second travel to 15th in this fascinating Championship clash with both sides intent on promotion to the Premier League. Forest drew 2-2 last time out and whilst their defence is generally very solid, the Bluebirds will fancy they can take the win on home soil and we predict an open game with goals for both sides.
- Fulham v Norwich (7/10 with Ladbrokes) – BTTS looks a fine bet here as two sides who were in the Premier League last term go head to head in the Championship. Fulham are down in 22nd place and that is largely down to having the worst defence in the second tier and given Norwich have the best attack in the division, away goals seem certain. We think the home side will at least get a consolation though so back both to score for a nice profit.
Sunday 19th October 2014
- QPR v Liverpool (3/4 with Ladbrokes) – Two sides who have started badly meet on Sunday afternoon and we think this could well end a draw. The home side have faced tough away matches, with four visits to top seven sides already and so we think they may not be quite as bad as some think. Liverpool’s defence remains a major weakness and so BTTS looks good here.
Monday 20th October 2014
- West Brom v Manchester United (4/6 with Bet365) – Man United’s defence isn’t actually as bad as many people would like to make out but we still think backing both teams to score makes sense here, even at lowish odds. Prior to the break for the Euro 2016 qualifiers the Baggies had managed three straight wins, followed by a narrow 2-1 loss at Anfield and so we think they will have a real go on home soil here. United should win but, once more, BTTS looks a safe bet to us.
