The World Cup has finally arrived to brighten our summer and – hopefully – swell our bank accounts. So read on as we bring you both teams to score betting tips for the first few matches of what promises to be a truly stupendous tournament in Brazil. Some of the bets below might be outsiders but we think they all represent superb value.

Thursday 12th June 2014
- Brazil v Croatia (13/8 with Bet365) – The opening match of the World Cup should be a cracker as Croatia give everything to upset the hosts in Sao Paulo. We don’t think the Balkan side will have enough to win, but we do think they’ll get a consolation goal, making both to score look top value at such long odds. Brazil’s superior skill and poise should pay dividends for the home fans, but so should backing both to score for us punters!
Friday 13th June 2014
- Mexico v Cameroon (5/4 with Coral) – Two sides who are better in attack than defence go head to head here knowing a victory would give them a great chance to progress from Group A. Both to score looks the likely outcome and odds the right side of evens make it a very attractive bet.
- Spain v Netherlands (11/8 with Coral) – A repeat of the final of the last World Cup, we anticipate both sides will go all out for the win here in the hope of avoiding hosts Brazil in the Round of 16. With both sides possessing plenty of attacking talent, backing both teams to score looks a fair bet at very nice odds.
Saturday 14th June 2014
- Colombia v Greece (6/4 with Coral) – Greece are not renowned for their attacking prowess, but they found their scoring tough against Bolivia last time out and we fancy they’ll muster a goal here. Colombia, meanwhile, have had two score draws from their last three matches and both to score here looks solid value to us.
- Uruguay v Costa Rica (27/20 with Ladbrokes) – Costa Rica are unlikely to emerge from Group D given they’ve been drawn with three World Cup winners, but we fancy they will give every game a proper go and we back them to get a consolation goal here to give Uruguay a scare.
- England v Italy (11/10 with Coral) – England’s defence is somewhat shaky at present, but their dynamic and hungry attack means we fancy them to score. As for Italy, conceding goals to Nigeria, Armenia and even Luxembourg recently means that odds of better than evens for both to score here look very generous.
Sunday 15th June 2014
- Ivory Coast v Japan (21/20 with BetVictor) – Both these sides have been scoring and conceding plenty in recent months: both have scored in each of Ivory Coast’s last eight matches whilst eight of Japan’s last 11 have seen three or more goals scored. Both to score here is as safe a bet as you will find this weekend.
