With Premier League football still a few weeks off, it is action from north of the border which takes centre stage this weekend with a full schedule of fixtures in Scotland’s top divisions with Celtic kicking off their title defence against Ross County whilst newly promoted Hearts host St Johnstone.
This weekend also sees the Community Shield take place as Chelsea and Arsenal battle it out for the first silverware of the season and that is one of our seven BTTS tips.
Saturday 1st August 2015
- Rangers v St Mirren (8/11 with Bet365) – Rangers are one of the favourites to win this league and they have plenty of goals in them as shown by their demolition of Hibs last weekend. However, they did struggle against Motherwell in the play-offs last season and St Mirren should have enough about them to trouble Mark Warburton’s side.
- Dumbarton v Hibernian (5/6 with BetVictor) – Dumbarton are regulars in high scoring matches and both teams hit the back of the net when these two last met at the Rock. Hibs will be looking to get promoted this year and they are big favourites for this game.
- Celtic v Ross County (11/8 with Coral) – The highland side aren’t expected to pose Celtic too many problems but they have managed to score in two out of the last three meetings between these two sides at Celtic Park. Ronny Deila’s side should have no problems scoring against the Staggies but they may well come under some pressure.
- Kilmarnock v Dundee (11/13 with 888Sport) – Both teams have hit the back of the net in the last nine of Kilmarnock’s matches and we’d back that run to continue as Killie host Dundee. The Dark Blues have won the last two meetings between the two and they will look to keep that good run going at Rugby Park.
Sunday 7th June 2015
- Chelsea v Arsenal (3/4 with 888Sport) – Goals are a regular feature in the Community Shield with nine out of the last 12 matches seeing both teams hit the back of the net. Chelsea have yet to keep a clean sheet in pre-season whilst the Gunners have been in good form going forwards and there could be plenty of goals at Wembley on Sunday.
- Dundee United v Aberdeen (19/20 with 888Sport) – Both of these sides will be aiming to achieve second place assuming that Celtic win the league again. The Dons are a very good outfit but United have the capability to cause Derek McInnes’ side plenty of problems.
- Hearts v St Johnstone (Evens with Betfred) – The Jam Tarts bounced back to the Premiership at the first time of asking and given the quality of their squad, they shouldn’t struggle this season. St Johnstone, despite being knocked out of the Europa League by the unheralded Alashkert of Armenia, are a dangerous outfit and they will be looking to build on an impressive showing last season.
