This week sees the first round of European group games and it will be interesting to see how the teams cope with their first domestic game after continental competition with the smaller teams looking to take advantage of the hangover effect.
One team well placed to do just that are Alex Neil’s Norwich in their game against Liverpool, and that makes up one of our BTTS tips for this weekend along with some intriguing-looking others.
Saturday 19th September
- Chelsea v Arsenal (8/13 with Sky Bet) – Arsenal have been going along steadily so far this term and we think that they will be able to get a positive result against a Chelsea side who seem to have forgotten how to defend. That said, they’re still not bad going forwards so Arsenal will have to be on their guard.
- Stoke City v Leicester City (31/40 with BetVictor) – Leicester have seen both sides score in every game they have played so far this term and we’d back that run to continue with the Foxes looking very impressive in attack. They should have enough about them to outscore Stoke on Saturday.
- Bournemouth v Sunderland (31/40 with BetVictor) – Dick Advocaat’s side have had a poor start to the season and whilst they have scored quite a few they prop up the table and Bournemouth will be confident going into this fixture with goals looking very likely on the south coast.
- Swansea City v Everton (5/6 with Betfair) – Everton look like the team that Roberto Martinez took control of in his first season in charge with some excellent attacking play causing teams no end of problems. His side come up against Swansea this weekend and with both sides playing attractive football this could be a good game to watch with BTTS a looking a very good bet.
- Manchester City v West Ham (5/6 with Betfair) – West Ham have scored away at Anfield and the Emirates Stadium on their way to victories so far this season and we think they’ll grab a goal or two at the Etihad. However, City look far too slick going forwards and we can’t see them failing to score in front of their own fans given the impressive start to the season they’ve had.
Sunday 20th September 2015
- Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace (4/5 with BetVictor) – Tottenham have got their first win under their belts after beating Sunderland last weekend and we think that they’ll hit the back of the net at White Hart Lane on Sunday. They face a Palace side who are very attack minded which can leave holes at the back but with their pace and guile in attack we can’t see Pochettino’s side keeping the south Londoners side out.
- Liverpool v Norwich City (10/11 with Betfair) – Norwich have performed the best out of all the newly promoted sides and they sit level on points with Liverpool. They have the capability to make life difficult for Brendan Rogers’ side, but we can’t see them keeping a clean sheet with the defence they’ve got so BTTS is the call.
