UEFA’s latest creation, the ‘week of football’, returns as the Euro 2016 qualifying groups start to take shape. Alongside a full quota of international fixtures, sides from League One and League Two are given the spotlight in England. As ever, we’re able to bring you a whole host of excellent BTTS tips to help you win some cash.
Friday 14th November
- Romania v Northern Ireland (13/8 with Coral) – Northern Ireland travel to Bucharest on Friday as surprise group leaders having collected maximum points from their opening fixtures. Romania will be a stern test for Michael O’Neill’s men, having reached the playoffs in World Cup qualification. Goals here are likely, especially after Kyle Lafferty, who has scored in all three of Northern Ireland’s qualifiers so far, was passed fit to play.
- Scotland v Republic of Ireland (23/20 with Ladbrokes) – Two evenly matched sides meet in Glasgow on Friday, with both teams seeing this as a match they can – and must – win. Scotland and Ireland have turned in some impressive displays so far and gutsy draws against Poland and Germany respectively show how far these two nations have come. If both teams carry their form into this match, it could be a very intriguing clash.
Saturday 15th November
- Plymouth Argyle v Portsmouth (39/40 with BetVictor) – Last week’s televised early kick off was Liverpool versus Chelsea, this week it is League Two’s turn in the spotlight as Plymouth face Portsmouth. Both teams will have a real go in this one and the two matches between the sides last season produced eight goals. Plymouth will be looking to consolidate their playoff position, whilst Portsmouth lie two points outside and both teams will go all out for victory on Saturday.
- England v Slovenia (13/8 with Sky Bet) – England have maximum points from their opening matches, despite putting in a below par performance against Estonia, whilst Slovenia also struggled against Estonia, losing 1-0 in the first match day. This will be a tougher match for England than most people are predicting and Slovenia, ranked 36th in the world, are no slouches. The last time both sides met at Wembley, the score was 2-1 and we think both teams will find the net again.
- Montenegro v Sweden (Evens with Coral) – Only one point separates these two sides and although Sweden have the better team on paper, Podgorica is something of a fortress for Montenegro. This match could well be a battle between the strikers who in Stevan Jovetic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are their respective sides’ leading lights.
Sunday 16th November
- Czech Republic v Iceland (5/4 with Ladbrokes) – Both teams have collected maximum points from their opening fixtures and although the Czech Republic have never lost to Iceland on home soil, the Scandinavian side will be full of confidence going into the match. The teams have 16 goals between them after six matches and more goals are likely at the Doosan Arena on Sunday.
- Belgium v Wales (13/8 with Coral) – October 2013 was the last time Wales travelled to Belgium and on that occasion both teams scored, with the match ending 1-1. Belgium’s wealth of Premier League talent will be looking to score an easy victory, however Gareth Bale has recovered from injury and he may be able to dig the Dragons out of trouble as he has done already this season. Either way, BTTS looks a solid option.
