This weekend sees the European Championships finally get under way, and with the Copa America continuing alongside, football fans are in for a real treat. As we get ready for the first weekend from a bumper month of football, we’re hoping for a few days packed full of goals and great games. On top of that, we’re planning a few bets for the first few days of the Euros that could well turn a tasty profit.
International games tend to give us great both teams to score betting opportunities. Tournament football should add to those good-value prices, which makes BTTS a market worth checking out on every game this summer. We’ve picked out where you should be looking for BTTS bets this weekend, along with a quick preview of each clash.
Friday 10th June 2014
- Uruguay v Venezuela (5/4 with Sky Bet) – Uruguay got off to an awful start against Mexico in their opening game, and their defence looked very shaky. Venezuela won their opening match, and the confidence they take from that should help them to trouble the 2011 winners.
- France v Romania (2/1 with Betfair) – The opening game of Euro 2016 sees France start as heavy favourites, but Romania could do some damage. They had a solid qualifying campaign, and that’s tested them more than the two years of friendlies France have faced. The French defence has question marks over it, and we think Romania could hurt them.
Saturday 11th June 2014
- Albania v Switzerland (6/4 with Bet365) – The Albanians are about to take part in their first major tournament, and they’ve not got the worst of starts. Switzerland may have had a good tournament record in the past, but they aren’t a strong side right now. While the Swiss are favourites they’ll have a tough time here, and they could end up with a shock defeat. Either way, BTTS looks a good price.
- Wales v Slovakia (23/20 with Betfair) – Wales come into this game haven’t shipped three goals away to Sweden in their final preparation friendly. Given how Slovakia put three goals past Germany in a friendly this month, you can see the Welsh defence struggling to match the great performances they recorded in qualifying.
- England v Russia (6/5 with Bet365) – England’s defensive worries haven’t gone away, despite their clean sheet against 10-man Portugal. Russia come into this in awful form, but they’ve been scoring plenty of goals. We see that continuing here, as England’s defence continues to struggle.
Sunday 12th June 2014
- Turkey v Croatia (11/10 with Betfair) – These two sides will be aiming to book a place in the next round, but they stand little chance of toppling Spain. They will know they need a win here to push for second spot, and we fancy these two having a very open game in Paris.
- Poland v Northern Ireland (11/8 with Bet365) – Northern Ireland aren’t expected to do much this summer, but they come here after going 12 games unbeaten. They’re in great form, their tactics are well tested and their team is focused. They will make Poland work for a result here, and we fancy NI to get themselves a goal in this clash.
