The League Cup fourth round gets underway this week and there are some cracking ties with holders Manchester City entertaining local rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.
There’s also a glamour tie on Tuesday as well as Liverpool, who thumped Burton in the last round, prepare themselves for the visit of Tottenham Hotspur. Both of these matches made the cut for this week’s BTTS tips, but who else is involved? Read on to find out.
Tuesday 25th October 2016
- Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur (7/10 with BetVictor) – Liverpool aren’t going to see many low scoring matches this season given their preference to play on the front foot and they are certainly an entertaining side to watch. We think Spurs will look to get at the Reds as well and there could be plenty of chances at either end.
- Arsenal v Reading (19/20 with Bet365) – Reading have seen their early season form dissipate a little bit but having faced Arsenal in plenty of recent cup matches, they will know all about Tuesday’s opponents. The home side will probably rotate due to Champions League commitments and we think both keepers will be kept busy in this one.
- Newcastle United v Preston north End (evens with Betfred) – Preston have been on a good run of form lately which has seen them rise up the Championship and we think that they will give Newcastle a run for their money this week. Simon Grayson’s side were brilliant in a recent win over Huddersfield and with BTTS at evens, it is a tempting bet indeed.
- Leeds United v Norwich City (4/5 with Bet365) – Leeds have scored in their last five home games and with Chris Wood on a good scoring run, we think that they will be able to find the back of the net here. That said, the Whites have conceded in their last four and with Norwich looking good for promotion this year, we can’t see a clean sheet being kept.
- Bristol City v Hull City (3/4 with Bet365) – Bristol City will fancy their chances in this one given Hull’s recent defensive displays and there could be the potential for an upset at Ashton Gate. The Premier League side are the better team on paper but they have not been at the races lately.
Wednesday 26th October 2016
- West Ham v Chelsea (8/13 with Bet365) – This should be a highly entertaining London derby at the London Stadium and there should be plenty of goals. West Ham look to have turned a corner and with Chelsea seeing their form dip a little lately, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top here.
- Manchester United v Manchester City (4/5 with Bet365) – Both teams scored in the first Manchester derby of the season and we can’t see there being a clean sheet kept in this clash, with Pep Guardiola’s side favouring an attacking style of play. With home advantage we certainly see United scoring in what should be an open game.
